Today is the day you have been waiting for – a visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal – one of the seven wonders of the world. This beautiful monument of white marble was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to honor his wife, Mumtaz Mahal’s demise. With altogether 22 years and 20,000 men to finish its construction, this most definitely one destination you do not want to miss while travelling in India. Special arrangements have been for wheelchair travellers to take their wheelchairs all the way up to the main monument.
Next to it on the opposite side of the Yamuna river is Agra Fort, from where you can watch one of the most breathtaking views of Taj Mahal. Agra Fort consists of sections like Pearl Mosque, Diwan-e-am (general public hall) and Diwan-e-khas (private audience hall) that were used to host entertaining events by the royal inhabitants that once ruled India.
